Wander through Coldfall Wood on a Wednesday and Friday afternoon and you may well hear dinosaurs roaring, drums beating, or the screams of delighted children on rope swings. You might even stumble upon a little group fishing by the stream or spot a grinning, mud-smudged face peeping out from behind a tree. Welcome to Fun In The Forest.

Ivana Grant runs Fun In The Forest adventures during term time and school holidays with children aged 3-11 yrs. She is an experienced primary school teacher and Forest School leader. Her child-centred approach to teaching and learning is helping many children build confidence and self-esteem whilst developing their emotional intelligence, all in a fun way through child-led play. Inspired by the Forest School philosophy, Ivana is helping children improve their resilience, and stimulates their creativity and imagination using nature and natural resources as her main teaching and learning tools. Forest school approach offers an alternative to an academic, test-based education system. It teaches children how to work together, appreciate the cycles of nature and rediscover the lost skill of playing purely with resources that nature has provided.

Ivana has recently acquired a new addition to her team, an Early Years specialist teacher and Forest School leader, Anna Yeats. From September, they will be starting regular morning and afternoon Wednesday & Friday Forest School adventures in Coldfall Wood for pre-school children aged between 3-5 yrs. These are two hour sessions ideal for children attending nurseries part time or for children looking to join playgroups locally. Ivana tell us ‘Our forest school is a great way for children to experience Early Years curriculum in a natural environment whilst engaging in nature-nurtured activities. Whether it’s bug hunting, building homes with sticks and string, preparing mud pies in a mud kitchen, taking part in wild story telling, or woodland games and nature arts and crafts, your child will have some fantastic fun in the forest with us.

At Fun in The Forest we are passionate about getting children outdoors and facilitating their discoveries in the world of nature. We use a holistic approach to teaching and learning and support each child along the way. All of our activities are child-led and we give children time and space to develop physically, intellectually, socially, spiritually and emotionally within a safe woodland environment. Wherever their adventure takes them, our commitment and passion will safely guide them along the way.’
