More Than Mums is a group for mums who want to be more active, more social and through doing so redefine their sense of self.

Becoming a mum is the most exciting and rewarding journey you could ever imagine but at the same time, it can also be the most demanding. On this journey, many women feel as though they’ve lost themselves, the sight of their dreams and passions.

But being a mum doesn’t have to stop you from being who you want to be. Motherhood has the unique ability of helping us discover a whole new and more amazing version of ourselves. A more passionate, more motivated and more ambitious side. We become More Than Mums.

One way to discover that is through a healthy lifestyle, exercising and taking care of yourself.

Margarita, the founder of More Than Mums Group is a former professional international athlete and passionate about sports and fitness. She is also a mum of two young girls.

‘As a certified personal trainer and running coach, I create specific training and running programmes and provide advice on how to improve your fitness level. My experience as a professional athlete and as a mum provides me with the unique perspective on the ups and downs of training and fitting this around your children and other commitments.

More Than Mums – Fitness Sessions:

This very popular and social session is a group for mums who want to get back in shape or maintain their fitness after having children. The session welcomes babies and children of all ages (and features a soft play corner with plenty of toys to keep your little ones entertained when indoors over the autumn/winter period). In the spring/summer the group aims to do as much of the sessions outdoors (weather permitting).

The fitness sessions are designed to provide a cardiovascular and strength building work out. All exercises are adapted depending on how long it has been since you gave birth and around your level of fitness, so it is suitable for all mums that have been given the go ahead to exercise after their 6 week postnatal check.

More Than Mums – Running Group:

The aim of this group is to have a time in your week where you can get away from it all and feel truly free.

This group has runners with varying levels of ability and everyone is welcome. We organise fun runs, interval runs, hill runs (tricky to avoid as, after all, we live in Muswell Hill!) and forest runs. We also have destination runs for example around various central London parks, across the river or to enjoy the sites of London in the early morning when it is wonderfully calm and quiet.

Through this group you can find a fitness partner and train in your own time together and at a pace of your choosing. This way you are more likely to stay motivated and keep running as you are part of an enthusiastic and positive team.

LOCATION: Meeting point and running location are announced on the Facebook group.

TIME: 07:00 – 08:30 every Saturday

PRICE: Free (and very addictive!)
