Providing children with the right learning opportunities at the right time ensures their learning is meaningful for their individual needs. This means children are provided with the right “nutrients” they need at different points of their learning journey.
Early Years researcher, Lesley Webb explained this by describing the purpose of nursery as preparing children for “big school” is like saying the purpose of breakfast is to prepare you for lunch. Rather, what you have for breakfast is what you need in the morning and what you eat for lunch is what you need for lunch.
Norfolk House School very much enjoy providing the first steps for children in their educational journey from the age of two years.
“Having children from toddlers as part of our school community keeps our focus firmly aligned to our Core Value of being caring to ourselves and others and underpins the nurturing ethos of our school.
Our Early Years team provide children with opportunities that enrich learning and create awe and wonder in the world. Purposefully planning an engaging, challenging curriculum for 2, 3 and 4 year olds means that children are learning the underpinning concepts and skills needed for their age and beyond.
As this learning is built upon purposefully every day by the time children leave our Nursery, they are ready to embrace Reception with confidence, enthusiasm and all the foundations needed for a successful entry into Reception.
At Norfolk House School and Nursery, we recognise the importance of choosing the right school for your child. To support you with this decision, in the first instance we warmly invite parents interested in a place in our Nursery to attend our Open Week.
Our Open Week is by 30 minute pre-booked appointment only and will be a chance for you to get a flavour of the school. On this occasion, we kindly ask that you do not bring your child along as we would like you to be able to look around freely and get any important questions answered.
Following your initial visit, you will have the opportunity to register a place for your child. You will then be invited for a more detailed meeting with the team. During this second visit, we encourage you to bring your child along to enjoy some time in our indoor and outdoor learning environments.”
To book your place, please fill the Open Event form or call 020 8444 4399.
We look forward to welcoming you to Norfolk House School and Nursery.
